Morning Dew

Early mornings often reveal tiny treasures that disappear as the day warms.

This week we noticed countless droplets of dew resting on spider webs, blades of grass and delicate leaves. Each droplet reflected the light like a tiny crystal.

Dew forms when the air cools overnight and water vapour settles onto cool surfaces. Although it disappears quickly, it provides a valuable source of moisture for many insects and small animals.

For children, dew encourages careful observation. It reminds us that some of nature's most beautiful moments are also the most fleeting.

If you're out early one morning, slow down and look closely before the sun dries everything away.

• Where can you find the biggest droplets? • What happens when the sunlight touches them? • Can you spot any tiny creatures using the morning dew?

Sometimes the smallest moments disappear the fastest, making them all the more special.
